In.Dependence

Join us for our online Studio Camp in July and August

The Studio for Playful Inquiry presents Studio Camp 2026: In.Dependence

What does it mean to be in dependence?

How does exploring the relationships that sustain us encourage deeper journeys?

Join us online in July and August to reflect, make art, and gather energy together to stay engaged and generate hope to sustain us in the critical work we do.

Our camp directors this year will be Miriam Beloglovsky and Jessica Frazier - authors of Revisiting Journeys. Over 8 weeks, we’ll read, practice, and reflect our way through this text with direct support from the authors.

It is time to document how society has created a disastrous gap in thinking about play, inquiry, innovation, equity, and social justice that directly impacts opportunities for children and their future.

At Studio Camp we

MAKE ART. Susan will lead mixed-media projects to strengthen your trust in the arts as languages for thinking and learning and to support your parallel journey as you work with Miriam and Jessie.

GATHER. We’ll enjoy live conversations with special guests and one another.

BEHOLD. We’ll take inspiration from the arts in a variety of forms.

REST. Like all our offerings, Studio Camp is slow professional development - acknowledging your right to agency, inspiration, and self-care in all you do.

WONDER. Playful Inquiry is what guides our intentions in order to support you to use playful inquiry to guide yours.

“Children’s complex journeys tell the story of their individual approaches to learning. The best way to understand children’s revisiting journeys is to connect the process to the educator’s and children’s personal experiences, interests, ideas, and memories.”

— Miriam Beloglovsky and Jessica Frazier

A revisiting journey emerges from a child’s self-initiated play and grows as the child’s interests evolve and change. As an educator, you play a crucial role in creating curiosity and complexity. A revisiting journey requires you to observe, reflect, map, and respond without providing answers to questions.
— Miriam Beloglovsky and Jessica Frazier

Each Week

The authors of Revisiting Journeys will guide you through a reading of their text and experiences that support an exploration of the big ideas.

1

Live meetings will be hosted so that participants can connect, reflect and support one another in their learning.

2

We’ll suggest a selection of texts to ground our dialogue and exploration.

3

We’ll explore the arts in a variety of ways. What would camp be if you didn’t make something special to keep? We’ll do that, too.

4

Finding a meaningful role for adults in the journey

Camp is an opportunity for you to focus on your own journey. Practice remembering what it felt like to play and explore your own interests and curiosities. Come imagine alongside others what could be.

“When you accompany children on revisiting journeys, the children serve as your guides, empowering you to respond to their interests and play. You can listen to the children and encourage them to ponder how their ideas enrich the community’s learning. You can craft each step of the revisiting journey by incorporating the children’s contributions into the design process. In doing so, you nurture identities that evolve, bolster, and cultivate children’s agency, paving the way for promising futures.”
